Friends of the 1st Bearsden

The formation of this group was suggested at the Ex-Members' Reunion in 1988 by ex-Captain, the late Guthrie Strang. It is now a registered charity (Scottish Charity Register Number SC036906) and its purpose is to raise funds to support the Company. Each year Friends receive a report from the Captain and an invitation to make a contribution to assist the Company. Over the years the Friends have made a significant contribution to the Company by funding various valuable pieces of equipment, and, more recently, by assisting the funding of attendance of Boys at camps abroad.

The Junior Section were recently able to add to their programme with some new games equipment supplied by the "Friends" for which the Boys are very grateful as they use these exciting new games.

Most recently the Friends assisted with the purchase of a data projector and screen, first used at the 2009 Annual Concert and again at the Annual Inspection, and with the purchase of 5 patrol tents for camp which replaced the Vango Force Ten Mark 4s which have seen approximately 30 years service.
