Session 2007/2008

USA Trip

The Company Section had another very enjoyable trip to our friends in Wisconsin USA in July and the pipe band had the honour of playing on a boat in front of thousands just prior to the spectacular 4th of July fireworks display. One of the highlights of the week at Onaway Island was joining with a group of Danes and several hundred Americans to celebrate 100 years of Brigade using the island. The day ended with an outdoor ceilidh which was enjoyed by all. It is planned to have a report evening on Friday 31st October when all parents, friends and supporters of the company will be able to hear more about the trip and see photographs

bike Bike Ride, Saturday 7th June

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, a group of eight boys went on a bike trip from Milngavie and set about the surrounding area. With such perfect weather conditions the trip was enjoyed by all who took part.

Battalion Drill Competition - 8th February 2008

Both the 1st Bearsden Junior and Senior drill squads managed to win the battalion drill competition, this year held in Dumbarton. As a result of the win, it means that the 1st Bearsden has the privilege of supplying the colour party for the Battalion parade on the 9th of March. The Junior squad, made up of Kieth Shand, Chris Mollins, Charlie Figes and Eoghan O'Shea retained the Taggart trophy for the 1st Bearsden while the Senior team, Ross Kirkwood, Iain Howe, Gregor Gordon, Gary MacFarlane, Jamie Figes and Andrew McNee, managed to reclaim the Overtoun Shield after the 1st Bearsden lost it last year.

Cross Country Battalion Cross Country - 2nd February 2008

Dumbarton hosted this years Battalion Cross Country competition, with five boys from the 1st Bearsden competing. Lachlan Carter and Graeme Shand ran in the intermediate race while Chris Mollins, Eoghan O'Shea and Keith Shand ran in the junior event. Lachlan and Graeme finished joint first in their race, meaning that they now go forward to represent the Battalion in the National Competition. Eoghan O'Shea also finished first in the junior race so he too will represent the Battalion. A big well done to everyone who took part.
